S.T.E.A.M. Enrichment Program
What does S.T.E.A.M mean?
The acronym S.T.E.A.M stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.
The S.T.E.A.M. Enrichment Program is a curriculum in which students have a better idea of what it means to be a “problem solver” or an engineer in today’s society. This also results in students becoming better 21st century citizens. The components of this program that students undertake are:
1) prior knowledge and experiences activation, in order for students to build new knowledge onto their pre-existing knowledge;
2) new skills or knowledge demonstration, in order for students to gain new knowledge through teacher and/or professional modelling;
3) student application opportunities, in which students are given the chance to apply their prior knowledge to their new knowledge and skills; and
4) real-world integration, to which the student’s newly acquired skills and knowledge are unified with real-world activities.
